The government on Thursday appointed former Lt Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Girish Chandra Murmu as the new comptroller and auditor general (CAG) of India. Murmu had on Wednesday resigned as the Lt governor of Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Murmu has replaced Rajiv Mehrishi, a 1978 batch IAS officer of the Rajasthan cadre, as the CAG.
